SNAKESKIN • empire vest + pockets

I know, I know... I say it about all of my work, but this piece truly is special. Much like my other designs, I started with natural + tan fibonacci cotton warp, but then wanted to try this slub cotton yarn I got in from a fair trade source in India. As I started weaving, I noticed a pattern forming, the slubs aligning themselves in such a way, mimicking that of snake skin or XO's. For this reason, I allowed the materials tell the story they wanted, and omitted the clasped weft design. I did however weave in metallic detail in to the tail of the piece, and a couple pockets in front. Dramatic side slits allow easy access to pockets, and maximum flowage. Pairs best with music festivals and layering.

Several hours over several days goes into making this entirely by hand. Fits a M-L best. Measures 23.5x34"
